London (May 1, 2012) – The Parlamentarium, the new visitors’ centre at the European Parliament in Brussels, uses a variety of interactive multimedia exhibits to take visitors on a unique and personal journey into the heart of European Politics. Electrosonic engineered and installed the main exhibition audio-visual hardware for Stuttgart-based designer ATELIER BRÜCKNER. Electrosonic won the bid for the project in an open Europe-wide competitive tender; the

The skylit L-shaped Hall is flooded with natural light; a glass-sided mezzanine runs along the short side of the L where additional wall-mounted exhibits reveal more about the amazing creatures and show what it’s like (more…)

Electrosonic adds expertise to Vindolanda Trust: Roman Army

Dartford (7 November, 2011) –The Vindolanda Trust’s two tourist attractions ‘The Roman Army Museum’ and ‘The Roman Vindolanda Fort and Museum’, deployed audio-visual technology to dramatically demonstrate Roman life on the edge of the empire 2000 years ago. Under the contract of Edinburgh based exhibition designer Studio MB, Electrosonic was the AV Systems Integrator for the exhibition displays.

The two museums make excellent use of the Trust’s archaeological discoveries near Hadrian’s Wall to bring Roman times to life. Audio-visual techniques are used sparingly, but to great effect, showing archaeologists live at work uncovering Roman artefacts, immersing visitors in the life of a Roman solider and re-telling the story of daily life in Roman times.

The re-development of the project was an initiative of the Vindolanda Trust. Fiona Watson, Vindolanda’s Finance and Information Officer, who was greatly involved with the project, said “We are very impressed with the quality and standard of the work throughout. Electrosonic worked effectively and efficiently as part of the Studio MB team and we are happy with the service they provided and the work they completed.”

The Roman Army Museum allows the visitor to step into the shoes of a Roman solider and experience life on the front line of Emperor Hadrian’s formidable British frontier. Upon entering the Roman Army Museum visitors are met with a very large and rather impressive Roman horseman. Nearby stands a Roman soldier surveying a “map table” which uses a compact ceiling mounted projector to graphically demonstrate how the Roman Empire expanded, and then contracted over a period of hundreds of years.

The ‘Recruitment Exhibit’, housed in the same gallery, uses a large Pepper’s Ghost display to effectively bring to life the harsh reality of being in the Roman army. A rather terrifying ‘Recruiting Centurion’ comes to life, standing in his field tent, sizing you up to see if you are fit for service. This exhibit posed the biggest challenge of the project. To ensure the Pepper’s Ghost display interacts (more…)

Electrosonic Projects in Dover Castle Tunnels

IMG_4840 - Copy

When English Heritage opened the new attraction at Dover Castle, “Operation Dynamo: Rescue from Dunkirk,” it deployed audio-visual and show control technology from AV systems integrator Electrosonic to recreate the drama of World War II’s Dunkirk evacuation.

Situated in the network of 60-meter long secret tunnels, 26-meters underground behind the famous White Cliffs of Dover, the attraction makes extensive use of AV technology to present the events of May 26 to June 4, 1940. In the highlight of the attraction, 23 projectors create giant images that run the entire length of the space augmented by spectacular lighting effects. German fighter planes appear to zoom down the entire length of the tunnel immersing visitors in the action on the Dunkirk beaches, while another scenario shows eerie-silhouetted figures hunched over a table planning the evacuation from within the tunnels.
